add enough BLACK 25 gram Airsoft BB's top cover about 1/2" deep on bottom.. (2 to 3 layers deep)
add 2 teaspoons of powder for cool whip containers (for the first load ONLY) in the S Round containers
1 teaspoon is more than enough .
add 50 to 100 bullets. The smaller ones like 223 would be 100 larger like 45ACP 230's might only be 30 at a time
When do I add more powder? My first test batch of 10 45 ACP-230 grain bullets with Signal Blue was perfect. But I coated another 50 (in two batches in the #5 container) and some of them had some thin spots - I can see the lead through a layer of blue in places. Should I keep to 30 or so of these big bullets per teaspoon of powder?

I have to add that the Signal Blue turned out beautiful on my test batch, and it looks great on the others, though with those thin spots.

30 to 50 at a time should not be a problem IF your container will hold them with room for good movement of powder/bullets/bb's.

sounds like you might not have shaken hard enough or long enough .. More bullets per container the longer you have to do both.

usually in 230 gr 45 bullets I can get 3 batches or about 150 bullets before I need to add more powder and then only 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon for another 100 to 150 bullets

I’m using a 2-cup container, and the bullets rattle around pretty well. I’ll just be “more vigorous” in my shaking.

I have “Betty Crocker” brand containers with screw on lids. The lids do not hold really tight on the cup, and I got some powder spread around while shaking the first batch. I found that stretching a nitrile glove over the lid and rim makes it hold plenty tight. I’m looking for the ZipLock cups you mentioned, but I may go with the local grocery’s house brand; they’re #5s, and they’re about as thick and rugged as the (other sizes of) ZipLock containers, but quite a bit less expensive.

I also have some hemostats coming that’ll let me handle the coated bullets with less fuss than the surgical pick-ups I tried. Those didn’t open wide enough to pick up or drop the bullets, so I had to stick my finger between the legs to open them. Not smooth, and not at all neat.

I have been hit real hard on inventory over the last 2 weeks especially right before Christmas
The MFG is on Christmas break and will be returning on Jan 2nd
will do my very best to get restocked as quickly as possible

now the next thing USPS is increasing their Rates Jan 26th..... UPS is going up 4.9%.. Trucking rates look to be going up about 6% (at least that's what I am being quoted .. need to look at more truck freight providers)
Long story short is my powder prices have to increase to cover those increases as I get hit twice ….coming in and going out

New Prices as of Jan 26 th 2020 are
1 Lb of powder including shipping in the USA is $23.50
2 lbs of powder including shipping in the USA is $38.00
3 lbs of powder including shipping in the USA is $52.50
4 lbs of powder including shipping in the USA is $67.00
for quantities over 4 LBs Just add $14.50 per LB to cover powder and additional shipping

If you want to place an order for any powders including the out of stock ones and are willing to wait on delivery I WILL honor the old pricing but as of Jan 26th it will all be at the new pricing

Are there any special tricks with applying a second coat? I have a bunch of bullets with light spots, bare spots I didn't see before I baked them, etc.

Looks like you are out of the Traffic Purple. Do you happen to have 1/3lb of it by any chance?

I wanted to order a 1lb trial pack of Traffic Yellow, Traffic Purple, and Traffic White to do some experimenting! Thanks!

completely out of purple and will be for at least 2 weeks maybe more
MFG was shut down for 2 weeks .. running gangbusters to get caught back up. Traffic Purple is not a real popular seller for them so its near the end of the run schedule

I do have a Wine I have been testing... its a dark red/purple I could send you a 1/3rd lb of
It has worked great so far in my tests

I'll have to wait. I'm making some ECU Pirates themed one so the traffic purple looks perfect.

Just shoot me a message when it gets in.

What would you recommend for a new guy? I've never powder coated before but they say your powders are easy to use. I will be tumbling. I really don't know how much I need. I would think 1lb would go a long way.

I would recommend any of these colors to start
Bacon Grease, Clear, Carolina Blue , Signal Blue, JD Green or Flame Red
All these are great first time colors
Once you get your process down a lb of powder will cover 6000 to 8000 bullets
You will use more in the beginning learning
