Also from the pics you either have too much powder on the bullets or your oven is not at an actual 400 degrees to achieve good flowout

Did a few castings over the weekend... shake and bake with your powders is a huge improvement over HF.

First two on the left are with your Silver powder, third and forth (gas checked) are with HF White. First HF has two coats, next has three coats. Uniformity is night and day.

Hey Smoke4320, just getting started with powdercoat and I read about half of this thread! Want to get some powder and bbs, and I don't know what your current updated prices are. Maybe give the thread an updated price list? Want to get a lb or so of powder, just don't know what color I want. Might have to start with clear...

Just ordered a pound of Carolina Blue from Smoke with PayPal, so easy and got a quick response. Can't wait to shake up some wadcutters.
I'll post a picture when they are done. I'll have to boil off the sticky lube they came with first, wish me luck!

After boiling the bullets . wash them good in acetone let AIR dry at least 30 minutes then put in oven at 140 to 150 ( no higher) for 30 minutes to be absolutely sure all acetone is gone

Got 1lb of clear to try out. I used to PC harbor freight red but I didn't like it so I went to hitek. After reading reviews of smokes PC I decided to give it as try

First he was fast with information to me and shipping was A+. I then did a test run on a 160 gr lee .45 rn. 11.5bhn I use in 45acp and 45Colt.

It coats way better than HF PC. More even, consistent and faster.

I did one coat and baked at 400 for 17 mins. Air cooled and had a full even coating that was 99%clear. Did a smash test and passed with flying colors. Loaded a few in 45colt at 1100 fps and it worked just as advertised.

As a hitek coater. I'd recommend this PC on anything under 1600fps atleast. Worked very well and I wish I would have had this experience when I first tried HF PC red.

I received your PC yesterday and shook up a small batch of boolits today = wow! I finally have beautiful, one coat, candy coated looking bullets like I have envied from Elvis Ammo, FortuneCookie45lc, and all the other guys! No more Harbor Freight Red clumpy, bumpy, twice coated, gross boolits here anymore.

Smoke's powder is visibly finer than HF and no doubt lends itself to easier coating.

Took a small sampling of two different boolits I have that were given to me by a friend:
Factory 148 grn HBWC's that looked to be tumble lubed
Factory 160 grn SWC with crayon lube and sized to .357 (wanted to powder coat them so they could be resized to .358)

Boiled off the lubed, threw them in a jar with acetone, shook them up good, air dried for a couple days while waiting for powder to arrive so they were positively dry.

Took a small #5 Ziplock container with a snap on lid, covered the bottom with a layer of black BB's, half a teaspoon of Carolina Blue and threw in 25 boolits.
Swirled about a dozen times, hard shake up and down about a dozen times, looked inside and saw fuzzy looking blue boolits! A good start!
Set the toaster oven to 400 and timer to 20 min. Spent 5 min letting the oven heat up while fishing boolits out with pliers putting them base down of non-stick foil (didn't want thin aluminum gas checks on these )

Used a laser thermometer gun thing to check oven, got 375, so let them bake for 15 min. Perfection!!!

And my .357 SWC's are now mic'ing out at .3585 to .360! What's not to like!?

Here is a photo showing an original boolit on left, then boiled and cleaned, then PC'd, the SWC on right is my own cast 158 grn Lee...
