An ESPC mix of HF red and yellow with matte black in there for that quasi-semi-gloss dark look.

265gn 45 colt HP MiHec mold I just got. Love those brass molds!

Lee C-309-120-R Gas checked and sized to .310, BBTC with black powder, then a bit of smoke's Traffic Orange, White Aluminum, Purple, and Sulfur Yellow, from left to right. I just put the accent powder on a Q-tip and tap it over the boolits, letting a bit fall on the noses. Then I size to .311.

    KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this.

Ideal 429244 PCed with Smoke Flame Red and one got an extra dip in Smoke Gloss Black just to see how it would come out.

Just cooked up a batch of .224 RF Hot Tamales for the Ruger Model 3. Now I'm gonna stuff 'em with 6 grains of Hodgdon's Trail Boss. I've got a bunch of empty soup cans that need aerating!
Keeping with the old west tradition, I sorted out the buckskin mustangs to top off these .223 Remingtons. Ride 'em cowboy!

It was "rainy-day- session" and we had a substitute teacher. We couldn't go out for recess so we stayed indoors and did arts 'n' crafts... yay! I made a bunch of .50 caliber pumpkins and thumpers. Then I specialty powder coated some in forest green. That way, popping them off in the woods, the targets wouldn't see them coming. Then I did a bunch in tan for use on desert targets. Of course I did a **** load in silver for when the vampires attack!

A gentle dusting of magic poly-powder.
Forest Thumpers lining up to be glazed.
Desert cupcakes all ready for baking.
    Done... golden brown and delicious.
Our finished assortment of target treats.

Aggies, Catseyes, Swirlies, Puries, Steelies, Peewees and Boulders... yup I had 'em all. Like most
kids I kept my treasure in an old King Edward's cigar box. I got the box from Mr. Gerard at Gerard's
Liquor Store on the corner of Arbor Vitae and Freeman Ave. Freeman Avenue was renamed La
Cienega Blvd. and relocated way up past La Brea when they put in that new San Diego Freeway.
Anyway, we used to play "keepsies" and my collection grew and shrank but mostly shrank, thanks to
the neighbor boys Michael Munson and Butch Kunz. What really devastated my diminishing hoard
was when I played at school against the likes of Fred Chase, John Conway and the infamous Leon
Fredrickson! I knew my luck had to change before I'd lost 'em all. Alas, such was not my fate, thanks
to the good nuns at St. John Chrysostom, who intended on protecting us from evil, outlawed.. yes
outlawed all marble games in the school yard because it was... gambling! My hopes dashed, treasure
lost but soul saved... thank you. But wait! Almost sixty years later my treasured aggies, catseyes and
swirlies have serendipitously returned in the form of my hand cast, powder coated, swirl dipped .45
caliber beauties! I am absolutely amazed at these little gems. They're almost too pretty to shoot.
However, in all fairness, I sure don't want to disappoint our many empty soup cans proudly standing
in line waiting to be bullseyed in technicolor! Leon Fredrickson... eat your heart out.

Sunday is NASCAR Sprint Cup Day. I've always been fascinated by the bright shiny paint jobs and
    wild color schemes.

It's as if I'm watching some frantic rainbow arcing across a blacktop oval.
Of course I have to admit the the real draw is the noise, the smoke and the flames.
As a kid I always liked the flames especially those articulated on hot rods.
I guess that's what attracts me to the retro fire red flames blazing the deep yellow of the Pennzoil 22 car.
But Sunday is also Shootin' Day when Cyndi and I go plinkin'. That's a real dilemma.
Ah! I've got it. I'll bring NASCAR with us to the BLM by making up a batch of retro-flamed powder coated plinkers!

All the bullets were first powder coated with the shake-n-bake method. The rainbow marbles were produce by floating several colors of Krylon spray enamel on luke warm water. Then the paint was gently swirled and the bullets slowly submerged through the enamel. After air drying the enameled bullets were baked again at 200°F for 10 minutes to produce a hard finish.
After shank-n-bake powder coating the bullets they were ready for their retro flames. Now the fun begins and you've got to be quick! First, several colors of nail polish were carefully floated on top of a full shot glass of luke warm water. Then the flame design was "stroked" through the colors with a toothpick. Finally the bullet was slowly submerged through the floating design and held under while the residual color was cleaned from the surface before removing the bullet from the glass. These are then set to dry. The lacquer nail polish dries hard enough to not require oven tempering.
I prefer round nose bullets for these paint jobs and am waiting on some new .357 & 9mm molds. I'll post step-by-step snaps then.
