A little experiment. I had Smoke's Traffic Yellow and mixed it with the last bit of Harbor freight red. It made an orange looking mix in the bag, but when I did the shake and bake, the yellow adhered much easier and the red stuck in splotches. It made a speckled egg looking coating.
It reminded me why I moved from the harbor freight pc!

For those considering buying an ES gun...

The right is pieces from best tumble effort. Single coat. Lots of thin spots and heavy spots.

The left is my first try using the Harbor Freight ES gun. Out of 50 bullets there's only 2 that had bad spots. Once I modify the "spray booth" I shouldn't have that issue again though.

I wish I had bought one when I first started!

(Both are coated using Smokes Traffic Purple)

I mixed some of Smoke’s traffic purple and black together. I tumble coated it and when I bounced off the extra in a separate container I had some residual blue left in the bounce container. These were my rejects I was having fun with mixing colors.

I made myself a HP holding tray using a cookie sheet and some #4 sheet metal screws. Here is the first use of it with plain base NOE 247 hp and Eastwood Ford light blue. I like the idea of the bases being fully coated for shooting thru a silencer.

I did not have great luck with S&B, my 45-70 bullets were not as uniform as I would like:

However, when I picked up the ES gun from HF, the coatings improved immediately!
Some MP Mold 311-410's in a super durable wet black, and Eastwood neon green, run through a sizer after baking:

    PC First Attempt

I'm very new to the coating club so I am very happy with the first results. I bought a sample pack from Smoke and used the shake and bake method. Flame red, white aluminum, and jet black. All the coated bullets below were a single coat. I believe I can get the "white Aluminum" to coat a little better with a single coat. The red coats very well with a single. The black holds the powder but would either require two coats or maybe a modification of my method by adding airsoft BBs. I need some range time to finish my trials, but overall I am very pleased with Smoke's powder. My first attempts with HB white (that's all they had) were terrible, at best. This was taken with an HD camera, so every blip and speck shows. I will try a few more colors shortly. I'm thinking I need some red, white and blue as well as the copper.

I casted up 10 pounds of lee 255 grain boolits for my vaquero today. I mixed Smokes traffic purple and back together. The more I tumbled the more the colors changed and gave more of an even color mix. The first ones in my hands were some of the first few I tumbled that colors didn’t mix evenly on. These are all from the same tumbling batch without adding any more PC to my mix. The color seems to change in bright light. These are all the same boolits. You can see how the color changes in bright light with a flash. The middle photo was with no flash.

I had some residual PC come off and stick to the bases my boolits from previous bakes. The only thing I don’t like about the mats. I’ll size them tomorrow.

What a great page full of 'close-up's' pictures.

I love it when folks get so 'into' doing a 'justified' PC coating!
A well done, best attempt...I really think it matters.

I have been taking the lube off all of my bullets so I can powder coat them, Today I mixed up what I like to call HEMI Orange (or hunter orange) and finally broke out the HFPC gun and sprayed some 255gr 44 Mag bullets that were once lubed.

The lighting sucks and im using a crappy camera...

Here are my two powder coating for rifle efforts (I tumble lube pistol calibers with Recluse 45/45/10). The alloy is an approximation of Lyman #2 mixed from recycled materials. I use forklift battery intercell connectors (antimony lead) mixed with antique Dutch Boy 888 solder (soft lead/tin) and monotype printers type (antimony/tin/lead).

The purple ones are Lee 230grain for 300AAC in 2 coats of Eastwood Translucent Grape.

The gray one with the copper gas check is from a brass MP mold for 7.62 x 39. Two coats of Eastwood Machine Gray. I punched the gas checks using Patmarlins Checkmaker.

Here are a couple more efforts. The Teal is the Lee 125gr round nose 9mm in 3 coats of Eastwood Translucent Teal. The steel case mockup with the blue boolit is 7.62 x 39 steel case with Lee 155gr spire point in two coats of Eastwood translucent blue. Copper gas check applied while sizing after powder coat.
