    Single Shot Remington Junk.

Look at this pile of junk someone gave me. It's a really cool design but certainly not shootable. What the heck is with the cocking lever on the side? That's different.

I'm guessing they were hoping that putting it on the side would make using it easier/safer or something?

Make a frame, hang her on the wall with a few old fashion shells, and call it a day.

If that gun would talk it would beg to be euthanized…
But it will look nice on a wall.

An excellent discussion of this type of Remington shotgun can be found at:

There's an old thread here about the world's ugliest gun. This is certainly a candidate.
Hang it over the door, or send it to ISIS along with some very special handloaded ammo for their enjoyment.

heck I would load paper or brass BP shells for it and shoot it. Bet it would be a nice squirrel gun.

Yes I can be long winded. Yes I follow rabbit trails. Yes I admit when I am wrong. Your mileage may vary.

I don't think so, the wood to metal fit is to good.

that is a remington rider shotgun. I have two in 12 gauge that are shooters, one of which has rifle sights and a belgian made 38-55 barrel insert. the cocking lever is a safety feature that allows you to load the gun without cocking the action. they were about $12 in 1905, and rifle barrel inserts were about $9 IIRC.

Love that blob of brazing rod. A true sign of a quality repair job.
