    Question Name that lube

    I was digging through all of my hoarded stuff and I came across a box of 40 caliber 180 SWC made by Vulcan Bullets in Elizabethtown, KY. The price tag was $19.99 for a box of 500 so I'm guessing they were bought in the mid-late 90's.

    The QC was terrible, but what I found interesting was the lube: it was a hard lube but it was yellow. I've never seen yellow 'crayon lube' before. I don't think the company is still in business and so I wonder if this might have been a home brew they were using? Over the years of storage it had gotten quite crumbly and a few were missing big chunks out of the groove that were stuck to their neighbors.

    Beeswax with Vaseline. I'd bet more than one used this mix..Problem with it, after years of storage the beeswax losses all it's moisture it started to crumble slightly. They were from Ky, so I'm sure the mixture was heavy on the beeswax for hot temps.

    randyrat, I think you are close, very close.

    I think it's the "OLD" NRA lube.

    Beeswax and Olive oil, only with more beeswax. I made this before and the colors depend on the quality of the beeswax. All good stuff, works well.

    And, if you mix it thinner, great lip balm.
