1st Star lube sizer

I really hate you people. Just set up my new Star and I can't believe how much better it is than anything else I have ever used. No more spending a relaxing afternoon sizing boolets I'm done in 1/4 of the time that it took before.

Only 1/4? Rookie!!! lol I love mine. If anything.... it's too fast. As you said..... no time for relaxing while lubing, because... you're done!

It was just a guess about the time required. One of my sizers is a modified Saeco that I have gotten pretty handy with but the star is so much better I can't believe it took me this long to get one.

I was still pan lubing last Fall, and then right before Christmas I found an Ideal #1 sizer and life was 150% better and I thought I was in heaven, and then two weeks later a Star practically fell into my lap and I knew I was in heaven!

Makes me wonder why guys are tumble lubing and powder coating???

By the time ya get done with all the Voodoo a guy with a Star is at the range with his second batch of reloads!

But I still Pan lube once in awhile for strange calibers, so I guess I can't be to harsh.

If there wasn't a Star, or a Ballisti-cast, and you only had to use a LAM or 4500, I'd consider the coating approach, but otherwise you have the speed and the simplicity. I just don't see a reason to rock the conventional

I got to chime in here.
I own a star. I automated it too. If I keep the tubes loaded it does one boolit every 2 seconds and that's running it slow. Last time it was 1.4 per.
Now this is why I coat now.
(1) no punch adjustment
(2) no heat required
(3) no smoke when you shoot
(4) no leading ever regardless of speed
Coating is the way of the future.
I suppose if you are shooting a thousand a month then yeah keep using lube on your boolits .

Come on now, don't lie. I've been following the threads. It has not held up to rifle velocities on the high end. While it might have worked at all speeds for you. It hasn't for everyone. And I'm still waiting for accuracy tests before I make a switch. It seems to be lacking in the accuracy department.

As far as accuracy goes. The 300 bo I loaded for my dad groups at .38 at 100 yards

Didn't mean to bump ya, Rob. Just wanted to voice a little... I think it's hard to think ahead of the curve, but the use of chemicals, the steps involved, and the time seem to favor traditional lube.

From reading these posts, a lot of you guys are very mechanically savvy. But,I just don't see that many cons to traditional approach

that being said, I had purchased hi tek coated bullets for a 500 about a year ago and was shocked to see no signs of leading for a plain base bullet with a stout load of h110. They were light-for-caliber at 330grains as well .

The 300 bo is 1078 fps.
All my molds are standard magma style with grooves.

Since the thread is about Star/Magma sizers and not bullet coating I will say I have two of them and they multiply like rabbits so watch out. They do a good job and some automate them for the bragging rights and lack of a life. Just kidding

Ok, in vein with the OP: I have a Magma Star and love it too. Its so fast and fun I often size and lube bullets just for the sake of it
