I fired 5 rounds in a 44 magnum once, long ago, all I remember was the decision to never do it again. How's Casull compare?

    Cool vid Ebner.

It is more than a .44 mag by quite a little bit but not impossible to control. The factory grip does a fine job of taming the sting. If given a choice of large handguns (bigger than a .44 mag) the 50 JRH wins hands down. There will be video of that one in the future. The selling point to the SRH in casull is that 45 colts can be shot in it with ease and even hot loads are not that bad at all. Another point not covered in this video (it is in another vid) the barrel was wiped out clean with an acetone soaked rag. One swipe it was clean, only had carbon residue.

Some advice from a fellow lefty and .454 shooter.......take off your watch when shooting. I've lost two of them when the little pins that hold the watch band on the watch itself "disengaged".

Good stuff, what's the lightest bullet you've tried with 296?

I had a Super Redhawk Alaskan in .454. With top loads and 345 grain bullets it would jump crimp after 2 to 3 shots, no matter how hard I tried to crimp them. I only tried RCBS dies, though. My Freedom Arms .454 doesn't do it with the same loads though...

So far the watch I'm wearing has held up well to some of the big boomers, chain saws, etc. If I did think ahead it would be wise to take it off though.

The lightest bullet tried so far has been the lee 250 and it pretty much screamed out at over 1600 FPS. Oddly enough it never jumped, it's been the 300 that has jumped. This makes more sense that heavier bullets pull very well in a hammer puller. It's much easier to pull a 500 grain out of a .458 case than it is a 40 grain out of a 22-250 case.

The dies used are dillon. So far no complaint about crimp until now.

Sometimes, with the right combination of a heavy bullet, light revolver, powerful load, "crimp crawl" is hard to avoid. My Freedom is just enough heavier than the Alaskan that it doesn't do it with these particular loads. It may have somewhat tighter chambers, if that has any effect, as well. I have an Alaskan in .44 magnum and it has no problems even with 340 grain boolits, but, of course, it isn't as powerful, either....

For anyone that has had problems with crimp creep......check your die expander plug. It should be .448".
