    Economy without compromising quality!

I'm looking for a new tent! We had an 8 man dome tent. Did just fine when I was a kid, but now I want to be able to STAND UP in a tent and not feel like I'm crawling into a badger hole to stay dry and warm.

I'm in need of a quality, low cost, tent that will comfortable sleep 4-6 people that has a ceiling at least 7ft high. I know a lot of you are canvas wall tent fans, but from what I can tell those are NEVER inexpensive. So far I found a pretty nice tent from Gigatent that is a two room 8-10 person tent that I think would work nicely, but I don't want to drop $200 on something I'm going to replace next year.

    Any advice would be welcome.

Looks like you're in the same boat that I am. The only difference I can see is that I'm looking for a one time use item. I think I've found it in the Browning "High Country" that Cabelas sells. Yesterday it was on sale for $149.99 (look on their website). It's a 12'x9' rated for five people (?) and has a pretty good rain fly that comes down to nearly ground level. YMMV. Hope this helps. Stan

Wife & I have been using the 6 man Coleman Insta-Tent with rain fly.
Lots of room, & easy to use. No problem so far.
3 nights @ about 20 degrees with a pretty stiff wind & pretty
heavy rain the day before the temp's dropped was the worst
conditions we have had it in so far & all was well.
Little over 3 years old & used a ton, no problems yet..
