I imagine this boolit at .317 would be almost good for my old .318 8mm sporter in a paper patch configuration?

Maybe somebody can help me here. I have a .318 bore 8mm, and 2 enfields with.316, so should I order the .317 to PP for the .318 and size down for the .316 bores. My meds are keeping me from getting a grasp of this but I think the .317 is better for me than the .326--- I am confused on this.

My 30 cal checks measure 315 outside dia, so I'm in for a 317 2cav if I can get a larger shank and use my 8mm checks!
mattd has raised the question that I have. Which gas checks to use with a 0.317" mold? Will 8mm checks will work?
I want a .317 2 cav gc . I think that will work best for me.

dragon, I see your from se pa, years ago I was a member of New Holland rifle and pistol club. You ever here of that range?

I really am interested in this mold with a 0.317" cast drop. However, if a 30-cal GS measures 0.315", am I going to have to go to a larger GS to get a good bore seal? And if so, will the 8mm GS work or is it too large. I am a little bit lost here and any input/guidance will be appreciated.
The 317 will really need the larger check, and larger then a normal 30cal shank. I have one of his other molds that casts 318 and has the bigger shank (IIRC it measures in the high 290s) and his 8mm checks crimp on well when sizing to 316. If this is an option here you'll be good to go.
I will have to look, I have been using my regular 30 cal checks on one of my out of spec 311466's it casts at .316 with a .284 shank and my checks run (when seated on shank) about .319-.320.
Now if I just interpolate this out to .317 it will make a .300 shank, most 8mm shanks run .301 so either is fine with me. I would bet a CNC machine that the 8mm shank will give less fits and check dislodges. I will update the OP to inform everyone of this update.
I will take one four cavity in .315 then. Thanks for the information.
I'll take a 2-cav .311 gc.
