Here is a fine bullet that was designed over on another forum, I would like to offer it here as well. This is designed to be interpolated up to .316-.317 for the big bored Mosins and Enfields but I am offering it in multiple diameters. The drive band/ gas check area was designed to be contained in the neck of a 303 cartridge.

Diameter options are:

UPDATE: Any mold ordered at .317 will be cut with an 8mm GC shank to ensure proper crimp, I have these available if necessary.



I will offer this in 2, 4, and 6 cavity aluminum molds that are made from 7075-T6 and will accept Lee 6 cavity handles.

I will plain base one or all of the cavities for an additional $10 but i will not mix diameters in the same block.

tomme-boy. I can't speak for Joshua, but you are actually correct if you were to try the Boolit shown with the dimensions listed on the above drawing.

Now ponder for a moment if you will, that ACE will orbit the cutter out of center to increase the boolit diameter, lets say from .311 to .317, this will also enlarge the bore riding nose of the cavity at the same rate as the base driving bands so the nose is also .006 larger my example (+- based on flex of cherry). The trick is to then not have a Gas check base that is .006 larger also or 30 cal checks will not seat friendly. I believe Joshua will have to cut the GC shank in a separate operation on larger than 311 boolitz.

This is just my understanding of how it is done. Kinda self evident.

No, these are cut with a cherry, which is cut to the design shown.

I have never cast for rifle nor ever used gas checks, but if the gas check shank(proper terminology?) remains at 0.284" in diameter while the rest of the bullet is enlarged to the extreme of 0.317" in diameter would the gas check fail to crimp on during the re-sizing process(assuming Lyman/RCBS sizing press) as the driving bands would be larger in diameter than the gas check thickness with the diameter of the gas check shank?

Is there a thickness standard for gas checks?
