Maybe you could trade for something useful like lead. Sorry JonB, I guess I don't know how to quote a post in one thread in another.

To quote in another thread, Quote the post, then using "cut and paste"...
Cut the quote, cancel that post, then goto the thread you want to post the reply in.
Then "Paste" that quote into the reply box.

If you could have figured out how to put her name on it instead of Lyman you would have been a hero. That is a great idea for a Christmas gift. People would get a charge out of it. Wait a minute...Ebay = Christmas Gift = $$$..Mine, I thought of it!!!!

    JonB in Glencoe,

How big are these ingots and has the mold become available to general populace?

Yes they 'had' been...you will need to contact Beone to see if he is still making them.
    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...its-Ingot-Mold

The ingots are about 2 lbs each and the size was designed to fit in a small flat rate box, for more info on size, see post 184 of the above link.

If you search around, near the end of that mile long thread, you might find pricing info and Beone might be making another size, 1 lb ...I believe ? There was also some talk of a 5 lb

    my molds look like this.

Thx for the link. Are you still using that old white gas Coleman to smelt with? I thought the fuel was getting harder to find.

YES, these pictures are from yesterday.
This coleman stove is the second coleman that I have dedicated to making lube and smelting ...the one I had used previously finally gave up the ghost. I collect them from garage sales for $2 to $5 each.

I just use regular Gas, $3 something a gallon. One time I kept track of production, I smelted 4 hours straight, using about a gallon of gas and yielded about 400 lbs. There are faster ways, no doubt. It does the job for me.

    Jon,

    What ever works!

I used a propane model Coleman when I first started casting but then my wife sold it in a garage sale before we moved to GA. Had to buy an electric hot plate after that. It doesn't get as hot as the camp stove but guess that prevents accidentally melting zinc WW's into the mix.

The first time I melted lead was on my BBQ burner! Now I'm melting 750# pounds at a time. Oh my, how things have changed.
