    Too early for moose

I was doing some land clearing on my property in Kenai, Alaska when this cow showed up, ate some freshly uprooted branches and finally disappeared once i fired up the backhoe. She hung around for about 10 minutes and showed no fear when I talked to her. She must have known there are no cow tags in my area.Click image for larger version.

No Moose here but the deer seem to know when it's safe.

My son and I went to the orientation at the USFS office today for the federal subsistence tag my son drew.... I am soooo happy for him... He diddnt stop smiling the entire briefing.... The sucess rate is near 100% for those that actually went out in the federal moose range...

Yeah a buddy pretty much won the lottery this year: Drew a sheep tag for the area south of Delta Junction and a cow moose tag for the area north of Minto Flats on the Elliott Highway. I'm tagging along as labor on both hunts, can't wait for September.

Had a small white tail buck feeding in my yard and watching me run the Gravely walk behind mower this week. At one point he was about 20' from my archery target!
    They know when it's safe.

Am always reminded of an old Alaskan saying "The moose was made up on the 8th. day from left over parts"
