There's a reason the "mouth of the breech" is not "ramped." Study the construction of the .22 case to figure out why.

I understand that it is counterintuitive to think that any kind of ramping to ease chambering couple be done with the rimfire case head, but as the magazine design of this family of pistols has the highest angle of entry that I can remember seeing, and with the (relatively) low MAP of .22 LR ammo, it ran across my mind to wonder if the zero angle of the breech face could not be relieved somewhat.

The MAP of the 22 long rifle is as high as the 45 ACP, and the case is thinner.

Interesting, .22 LR showing a higher MAP than .45acp by 3,000psi.

[QUOTE=Hamish;2862946]Took the wife to the range yesterday to shoot her new 22/45 with Bushnell TRS-25 on top. I had previously taken it to the range to sight it in with no problems using CCI Blazer LR ammo.

After the first five shots it began to jam with the spent case ending up atop the cartridge that was partially into the barrel. I ended up changing ammo twice more but it would still jam this way about every twenty shots.

In '74 I bought a new Standard that did this very same thing. A jam in every other magazine load or so. One day I was studying the 9 shot mag and thought that maybe one of the lips was a tiny bit out of kilter. I pressed the lip against a counter top (not that hard) and the Standard never jammed again.

I've bought other mags for it since and I don't recall it ever jamming again unless it's VERY dry and dirty. It nows wears an UltraDot MatchDot -- I shoot it often @ 2" reactive discs @ 25 yards. I never tire of it..

Those guns can benefit from the feed-ramp being polished.
