    Reloader 7 in 30-30?

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has used Reloader 7 for slow accurate target work in the 30-30 or 375W?

Although I haven't used it, Alliant does recommend it for light bullets in the 30-30.

One of my favorites for full power loads under 150 grain boolits in the .30/30.

For the 30-30, the 4th edition of the Lyman cast bullet handbook listed 18.5-26.5 grains of Rx7 with the Lee 309150f and 20-28.6 with the 311041. It also indicates 26.5 grains of Rx7 has the potential for being the most accurate with the Lee 309-150f (listed in bold). Rx7 shows up a lot in this edition of the book. I use 26 grains of Rx7 with the Lee 309-170F which produces excellent results and right around 2000 fps.

Just don't mistakenly use AA#7.......you'll have a catastrophic KB just as one of our members at the marlin owners forum had.

With the disappearance of SR 4759, I'm hoping to use R-7 in its place in my 14" T/C 30-30 for IHMSA silhouettes with 150 or 165 gr cast. Have not had a chance to do any testing as I just got my 357 max barrel back from Mike Bellm and will be spending time with that using IMR 4227 and an NOE 180gr sil (RCBS clone).

Haven't seen a can of RE-7 on the shelves around here in six months. I would like to try it in a number of calibers since it is ubiquitous in the new Lyman book.

I think my LGS has all the Reloders in now. I may pick up a can of 7 and see how it works!

Tried RL7 in mine not as good as 3031. 4227 sucks.
4227 IS the powder for the .357 max.
I just scored 16# of 4759 and have over 20# now but it is not as good as 3031 in the 30-30. I use it in the 45-70 BFR revolver.

Funny you should ask. Just yesterday a friend dropped some off to try in my 30-30. Alliant lists 15.8 grs and a 165 FP in the 2005 guide in the cowboy action section for about 1550 fps. I loaded 5 each behind 311466 and 311291 and shot on my 50 yd home range. The 466 was no great shakes but 311291 put 5 into an inch at 50yds out of my peep sighted 340 Savage. It's only one group and 50 yds to boot, but I think I'll load some to try at 100 yds. Just thought that data may be of interest to you.

Using my peep sighted 340 with 16 grs of RX7 I shot a 10 shot group at the 100 yd range. I put 8 of the 10 into 2 3/8" with the other two taking it to 3 7/8" for 10. It appears to be a reasonably accurate load considering the sighting system, a creepy 4+ lb. trigger and my abilities to manage them.

    +1 for Turmec..

I too use 25-26 grains of RL 7 for cast bullets, 311041, RD 165, SAECO 315, and RCBS 165-SIL.
Shoots clean and accurate, in Marlins, TCs, Savage 340s, and Winnies.
