Lyman 358429 HP mold - not 358439. Looking for informations

I attach few pics of my Lyman Keith 358429 single cavity mold, Hollow Point version.

What is odd (to me at least) is that this mold is not numbered as 358439 but as a straight 358429. The carboard box indicate that the mold is an HP variation.

It looks a factory made HP mold, but I may be wrong.

Could you tell me more about this particular mold?

    Regards

Back in the good old days, you could order just about any mold in the Ideal-Lyman catalog as a hollow point. I have seen several such molds and I suspect that yours is one of them, probably made in the early to mid-sixties, but perhaps as late as the early 70's. I believe they stopped using the black and white boxes about 1975, but perhaps someone can provide better information about that than I. It appears to be factory and should make good boolits.

Hi alb87, what rintinglen said. My hollowpoint version is 358429 like yours. I'm not exactly sure but it seems I remember the 358439 version had a slightly longer plug for a deeper hollowpoint but I have slept since then and it wasn't in a Holliday Inn.

    Thanks for the informations.
I'm a big fan of the old master Elmer and the 358429 is one of my favourite bullets.
When I found this mold I got it immediately since the HP version is usually uncommon.

I keep it basically as a collector item. Cast some bullts from time to time.
I use the standard version since I don't basically need a HP for target shooting.

    Best regards

My 358429 also has a smaller "stepped" pin than the 358439s I have.

The "439" was a hollow BASE design.

I think the 358431 was the hollow base mold and the 358439 was the hollow point.I have had 2 of the 358429 molds that were factory hollow points. One i sold to a member here several years ago.......Terry
