Question .41 Gas checks for Saeco molds

I am considering a 4 cavity 220 grain truncated cone gas check mold by Saeco (#415). Do the Hornady .416 checks fit this boolit or do I need something else. Any advise would be helpful to avoid buying the wrong checks. And, of course, would love to hear of anyone's experience with this boolit and suggested loads. Thanks in advance.

    Red face

I partially answered my own question if the Redding/Saeco website is correct that the shank is cut for "many" types of gas checks. I guess what I was asking is do the Hornady .416s require so much pressure to attach in a Lyman 450 that the nose would be distorted or badly engraved by the top punch?
    Sorry to be dense.

Doc, I can't say how SAECO cuts their .41 GC shanks, but I have put .416 Hornady checks on shanks intended for the Lyman .41 GC. I had to anneal them, then open them up a little by setting a 1" ball bearing on them and giving it a tap. They went on without much trouble after that.

    Fourarmed,

Thanks for the reply. That's 'zactly what I wanted to know. Have you tried the checks that Mountain Molds sells (?Gator Checks)?

I have not. Currently all my .41 and .40 moulds are plain base.
