Alloy mix help needed
Hello guys,
I am a new member, I have about 2,000 lbs. of indoor range lead, cleaned and fluxed. I have sent it to the lab for testing. It came back at at 98.34% lead, 1.35% antimony and .139 tin mix. How much of the 70 lead / 30 ant. Roto metal blending metal would I need to add, I also have around 400 lbs of 50 tin / 50 lead to use.

Download the lead alloy calculator. Plug in the antimony/tin percentages of your tested alloy into the custom alloy at the bottom, then add numbers for your rotometals alloy in lbs. and the 50/50 tin you have until it displays a final alloy that you want.
If you don't have Excel on your computer to run the alloy calculator then download OpenOffice which is free open source software that will run the alloy calculator spread sheet. https://www.openoffice.org/
I know what alloy I want 2-6-92, but how may lbs of the 70/30 5 lb bar do I add to lead and tin make 100 lbs ??

2 tin / 6 ant. / 92 lead, it's what i've been using sorry bout the lead mistake.
That the lead alloy calculator will provide you an easy way to determine exactly what different alloy combinations will yield. I could plug your numbers into my copy and figure it out but if you download it yourself you will be able to plug in any combination to determine what alloy you will get.

I'll just call it Lead.....
Use 80 lbs. of your tested Range Lead, add 16.45 lbs. of the Rotometals Super Hard and 3.78 lbs. of your 50/50 Solder.
You'll get 100.23 lbs. of 2% Sn, 6% Sb, 92% Pb alloy which is known as Hardball or Magnum Alloy!
It will be darn close depending on what your unknown 0.171% really is.....

It's all there in the calculator! A nice tool developed by one of our own. I use it all the time.
Try it...........you will like it. That way you can play around with the mix as you wish.
