    Found a unique boolit

Picked this up at the 40yd line of the rifle range, pistols are used there also.
Looks like it hit a steel plate and formed a drop on the back of the boolit.

Looks like an old plain lead Hydro shok, fully expanded, with the lead post sticking out. are you sure that stud is the rear of the bullet?

Yes the frozen droplet is opposite the very flat side, Seen lots that have hit steel the backside is a bit rounded ,the other side very flat.

Hunt up enough slow motion video on everything from water to bullets and you will find that the shape is actually exactly what is expected when a substance is at its liquid state "splashing" and rebounding against a flat surface.
More "This is what happened when I,,,,," and less "What would happen if I,,,,"

I like it! Maybe Idaho is the home of Unique Boolit finds; here's a couple of my personal favorites from the desert berms:
The one is a .45 JHP wrapped around a hex head screw, the other is a .44 JHP trying to swallow a .40 cal.

I saw this in a cartoon once. I'm pretty sure I can pull it off...
