Lead "came" is soft lead. Some can have Zn on the outside. I have 60# of it with thin brass shell extruded over the lead.
Check with muriatic acid for Zn B4 melting. If old, beware of the caulking and lead paint that can be in/on it when melting. Stand upwind!

I recycle lead came as well. Because the solder used is usually 40% tin, I tried separating solder joints from non soldered pieces to make alloy richer in tin - wasn't worth it.
I have smelted several hundred pounds of window cames, and have had no trouble. I keep my smelting temp just over melting point, and anything not lead rises to the surface, and gets skimmed off. Then I have some very soft lead. But, you gotta have a pot thermometer. mikey
Mine produced crazy amounts of dross. I'll try to swap what I have for sheet lead.
