New Trial with Wano Sporting Powder FFFg in 45-70

    Hi Gents,

do a first trial with Wano Sporting Powder FFFg Granulation.

Have got tried some Brands like Goex,Swiss,KIK and Wano Nr 1 over the years before.
Due to my 100 m / 110 Yards Range limitation here in Germany i come back to the conclusion that a lower charge could be successfull for this distance maybe out till 300 m/ 330 Yards

My approved Load with FFg Granulation is around 65 - 70 grs

For the Sporting Powder i take 65 grs first and my 457125 Gov. but results are not successful
reduce to 63 grs. with a good result

but will go down to 61 - 62 grs. next time.

seems for me that there is a lack of accuracy in the 64 - 67 grs level. above 68 grs accuracy is good as usal

No fouling problems with the lighter load, 10 shoot string without wiping only blowtubing with 3 breaths.

Cleaning after 10 Shoots with 2 wet and 2 dry patches .

Naw Klaus hasn't quite figured in the lead for Earth's rotational West to East spin yet and gave it too much lead
Klaus that #1 Wano looks like it will work.

Are you going to make the Quigley in Poland coming up? If you do make that match please post the results.

Klaus - I would have never thought that "Reverse German Notation" down to 63grs of FFFg from 70grs would produce a nice 10 shot group. Good shooting!

    Hi Gents,

    thx for your replys

@ Kurt, unfortunately i can`t participate at the Quickly in Poland this Year but Roland and the Denmark Friends will go there so far i know.
Maybe the Little Bucket Event in Wiesbaden will come up this year but i was not really sure

This Saturday i will just try another Load with the FFFG Stuff 62 grs and the 457125 Bullet
    Post my results

I think that the Chicken above was moving shortly before the bullet impact

No i was looking for a group and do not made a sight correction

some times ago since my last report was send, i do another trial with Wano Sporting Powder FFFg Granulation and the Lyman Postel and Govt. Bullet.

Have a day of yesterday and take some nice time at the range
Prepare all Rounds with 63 grs Wano Sporting Powder FFFg , compressed to .216 .
corked with Milkcarton and Coffeefilter paper.
    Pistol Primers
All Rounds are set in the Cartr. covering the greasegroves.
Run all Rounds through the Lyman Necksizer to have a slight fit on the neck only to avoid to loss around upside down or even i have to remove an unfired round .

    Distance 100 m
Rifle: Pedersoli Remington Rolling Block 45-70.

    Cross Sticks
    Blow Tube

After each 10 Rounds i wiped with blue Glasscleaner 2 dampned an 1 dry patch

First Pics are two targets with a "Bucket" i was training for an upcomming Event in July

the litte Bucket was not easy to aim but finaly i got him after sight correction with the Lyman 457125

    The Lyman 457132
the first 3 Shoots hit the bucket directly but if you are to larking the results are shown in the two deep flyers.

After this first shoot i have a break and changed to the electronical Target
For this result there i have no Papertarget but i have taken pics with my Mobil
    sorry for the bad appearence

here are 10 shoots with the Postell Bullet score 97 Points
    The 457125 scores 88 Points .
It was much more easily to aim on the bigger Round than on the little Bucket
Have to say that the Postell Bullet will be my next favorite
By the way i also try the Lee 459-500- 3R with the same load but it was not worth to show the results

    greetings from Germany

    really fine shooting, klaus!

i'd say at this point your only limitation is that pedersoli roller ...
everyone knows those low end italian guns don't shoot well.

Do you weigh your bullets? I suggest you weigh your bullets and separate them into "Lots" of Plus/Minus 1/2 Grain.

Of course, the "Light" bullets go into the Reject Bin to be recycled through your lead pot as they have hidden air bubbles somewhere in them.

Keep trying different powder charges because sooner or later, you will find one specific charge that gives wonderful accuracy. However, when you change to a different "Lot" of black powder, you will have to develop another best load.

    Same when you change primers.

    Keep up the good work!!!
