    Tumbling After PCing

Finally got around to trying my hand at PCing. I decided to try and reuse my NS aluminum foil for 4 coatings against most everything I have read here. Needless to say I got a fair bit of flashing around the boolit bases and a few I would characterize as substantial. I left them sitting out for a night while I considered how to go about removing it. What I ended up doing is throwing about 100 of them in a 1lb plastic coffee can (I use these to store boolits in after casting) and shaked, rattled and rolled them for about 2 minutes. With one exception, all came out clean as a whistle and the one needed about 30 seconds with a utility knife to clean up. Then I ran 'em through the sizer and all is well. I had tried running the ones through the sizer that had the more substantial flashing on them and found more often then not it chipped the PC around the boolit base exposing some lead. Granted this was a small test but I plan on trying this much more to see how effective it really is.

The espc can build up some coating. I like jigs for this reason if you go this route. But, I have coated on one sheet of nsaf many more times than 4 without issue doing this new tumble method with airsoft bb's. This new method works well for the boolits I have that won't fit on the jig for h/p's. Sounds like you did find a way to mitigate the chipping by just resizing after coating. I had to find another way myself to get rid of flashing, but just used a razor over winter on the few I did without a jig. I like your idea better. But, like I said this new method get rid of all that, and uses less powder taboot. win,win in my book.

I usually do 3 sprays with NSAF then change it out. After that the flash builds up a bit too much for me. It is not THAT expensive! I have never had any problems at all using the sizing dies to remove it. You must have had a reeeeeeeel thick base to pop thru to the lead!

With BBDT, I have been using the same piece of foil for almost 1,000 rounds! No sticking and no tearing. AND.............no flash. The boolits literally fall off the sheet.

I size after castings to get any out-layers and again after PC to bring the slugs into the spec I want. Some I do not post-PC size due to size of boolit needed.

I have found it depends on the bullet that is cast and your die some of mine do fine others are more tricky. One way I have found for those that are giving me problems I remove the push pin out of the die and the guts out of the sizer ( adjustment for bullet stop) and push the bullets threw nose first. That is using a lyman 4500. I have only had problems with one of my styles of bullets out of around 6 different ones.
