    Bees wax in iron mold

I used some bees wax to get some stubborn lead out of the corner of a mold and some of the bees wax has migrated into the cooling fins. Is this a big deal? Will it melt out? Is there something I should clean the bees wax out with? Thanks.

I believe you mean vent lines and heating the mold will soften it casting will eventually burn it out. I would warm it and clean good with a tooth brush and solvent then clean again with dish soap and water to remove any residue from the solvent. Allow to dy before csting. Preheat mold to temp before casting and 1st bollits should be good ones.

Sometimes I get some lube contamination and have found polishing a hot mold with wool (eg. old boot sock) works. It seems like the wool has some affinity for the lube. It also doesn't char as readily as other fabrics.

Take it apart, scrub it in hot water and dawn with an old toothbrush.
