My 7x57R bore dimensions are .277"/.284". Do you recommend Option 2? I'm still trying to get a copy of the reamer drawing.

Tony, I apologize for taking this long to respond to your question.

Yes, I would recommend Option #2 and sizing to .287" as long as your rifle will safely chamber that drive band diameter.

I feel compelled to point out a "possible" issue that "may" arise regarding the molds that are .287" and larger. I have a box of Hornady gas checks that were purchased new a couple of years ago. The outside diameter of a bare check (not crimped) is a hair over .287" and barely crimps when passed through a .287" sizer. It could just be my box but it may be a good thing to check into.

Update: I just today received an order of 2,000 Gator gas checks from Blammer. Just mic'd a dozen and they measure a very consistant .289" diameter; and snap nice and tight onto the shank of some BRP 287641 Improved boolits I cast last week.

I would definitely recommend the Gator checks over Hornady checks.

Mold dimensions are based on wheel weights + 2% tin. I'll put you on the list.

Update: I just received this PM message from Josh at A.C.E.


"........ i am now offering a "blank" lyman type nose punch with all molds for $5 they get filled with epoxy (like JB weld) and a vasolined nose bullet fits inside................................. I can also offer a flat punch if you desire for your buy............."

I'll take 2 of the aluminium 2 cavity molds; One at .287" and one at .291", options 1 & 3. That should cover my guns okay. Guess I better sell something so I can afford some molds.

Gotcha, and thanks Randy. We'll get that 1908 Brazilian Short Rifle of yours slugged & pin gauged at Edd's place in a couple of weeks.

That makes 14 molds spoken for and several members that committed on the interest thread who have not confirmed their intent to order yet.
