I was in Wallyworld today, after standing in the aisle researching the CB site
on my phone some of those black Crosman .25 gram BBs jumped in my cart.
    I'll give them a try.
    They are labeled 6mm, I have a 20cal / 5mm Sheridan pellet gun, I wonder...
maybe I need a 5.3mm sizing die, or stuff 'em in the muzzle with a ramrod?
Sorry that's off topic I guess!

So, it will not hurt them or cause the coating to chip if they are put together in bulk for storage? I wasn't as worried about corrosion as much as I was wondering if the coating will be damaged in any way.

    thanks

I'm not sure if you're replying to an earlier post or what, but that is true.

The ones on the left are "pink" made from mixing HF red and HF white. The ones on the right are "orange" from mixing HF red and HF yellow.

Here's a closeup where you can see the speckled finish a little better.

The above boolits are Lee 230rntl that were dry tumbled, coated twice.

    johnnyboy..
when I started Pc'ing bullets I wondered about wear.. I coated 3 45 long colts loaded them in cases and carried them in my pants pocket along with change, pocket knife, 2 keys and a 223 case
a week later you could not see any wear .. after about 10 days the corners/edges started to show some thinning, 3 weeks and all the sharp edges of bullet were worn off ..
so I think setting in a box on a shelf would do absolutely nothing to coating wear

Thank you, Smoke. That's what I was hoping would be the case. This is something I want to try.

I wonder how a uncoated boolit would have fared?

Leave it in there long enough and you'll have a round ball.

OK Copper arrived .. I did these really quickly.. its 86 degrees and 60 % humidity ,.. not real good for dry tumbling .. but I think you will be pleased

    Attachment 107695Attachment 107696

I have used the same sheet of foil now for probably 15 to 20 batches of bullets notice all the colors

added the Red , Blue and Green so you would have something to compare to

Fear not. Storing them in bulk within a coffee can has resulted in NO damage. The PC is QUITE durable.

here is 3 teaspoons copper to 2 teaspoons of Orange to get closer to a real copper color
There is still enough powder left to probably do 300 to 400 bullets when mixed to that %

I like this powder so far, but the bags are a bit inconvenient. When I was mixing different colors of Harbor Freight brand powder together, I used a little 2oz plastic cup w/lid like a restaurant would put ketchup in. I have them from making Jell-O shots for parties.

The cups worked well for the mixed powder, so why not use it to hold some powder from the bag while I'm coating.

A single cup will hold enough powder for at least a few hundred boolits. If I do have a spill or anything, I've got alot less powder on the line. And it's easy to snap the lid back on, where squeezing the air out of the bags each time was a pain and made a mess sometimes. I live in humid S. Florida, and do this out in a garage with no A/C. I figure the less the bags are open, the better my chances of keeping moisture out.

I've made at least a couple hundred of the orange and pink mixes you see on the left, and they're about half used up.

I thought of that, but don't have any empty right now. I've been meaning to make a new thread about breaking containers. I've gone thru 2 of the round Chinese takeout bowls, the white ones with a clear lid. Boolit containers have always been the bonus of Chinese takeout. I ordered the other day, and washed the bowl out well after my Lo-Mein. When I went to DT some .45 boolits in that bowl, it cracked all over, getting my hands covered and powder and powder just all over. I've had it happen with 2 chinese takeout bowls and a Rubbermaid Takealong container now.

They all have the same number in the recycle logo as a cool whip tub. I guess not all #5 tubs are created equal.

around here they use an all clear bowl and it works well ..
I did have 1 crack but I was trying to overload it .. 100 230gr 45's did the trick... about 11th swirl and it cracked ..
if I do 50 at a time have not had an issue yet but sure I will

    Smoke4320:

Thanks for the prompt service - got the powder yesterday.

Might be a week or two before I have a report. 45ACP for my 45-70 will be first cuz I don't think I'll have to size.

    Then .30 cal for 30-30.

Wife wants a necklace of pink 30-30 !

Got my powder yesterday and coated this morning. Much better coverage with one coat than the HF red I was using. Thanks!
