    Gas checkes for 45 cal pistol/rifle?

    Are the gas checks the same for the .45 caliber pistols (.45LC) and rifles (45-70)? Reason I ask is that I only see when (specified) gas checks for .45 cal rifle.

    If they are the same, is it a big deal to size a bullet w/rifle gas check (~.459) to pistol (~.453)?

    ive seen them listed as different checks but ive used hornady and lymans for years on both interchangeably.

    This is a two part question, the first part, yes they are the same check.

    The second part is that .006" is a lot of sizing. Sure it can be done but . . . that is a lot of sizing and best done in two or three steps. Even so . . . that is a lot of sizing.
