I would not hold out too much hope that danr will be back on here. His last activity was back in April. Someone mentioned he had been banned for some comments? not sure what happened, but I did try his website but no response?
Anyone have any ideas of what is going on ?

I don't think he could cut that on his drill press...

So, I don't know a lot about making molds. Was his method easier/cheaper because he omitted lube groves, gas check shanks, etc.? Everyone else charges more for different weights, designs, etc. because of cherry cost but he said the cost was the same to him. How was he machining differently?

I think he was making a profile cutter out of cobalt cutter blanks and using Lee blank molds.
probably a good concept for the hobby molders. What I saw looked good to me.

Like others said he is making his own cherries with a piece of cobalt rod, but he does not use a CNC to cut the mold blocks. He is purchasing blank mold blocks from Lee and using his cherry in a drill press. The problem with this would be getting the cherry centered perfectly, and depth perfect which will affect boolit weight between cavities. Sure, if it were a 1 hole mold it would not make a difference, but you get one with several holes, and you will be sorting for weight that will be over a wide spectrum. For a hobbyist his method is fine, but if I am buying a mold I would like it to be consistent.

I have to say his prices were tempting and yes for a good weight drop out of the mold that may be in question. He got into it over in the swaging section and got banned. He should be able to come back now looking at his profile so I would say its his choice to stay away.

consistant Bullet weights over multiple cavities would be a real feat for a drill press cut mold
maybe for a short range pistol bullet might be fine but for a longer range rifle mold I just see problems

Anyone know if this guy (kainemolds) is still in business? I tried his website in both firefox and internet exploder and all I get is the main intro page. None of the other buttons work...

His (danr) last activity on this site is from April of this year.

Doesn't seem to be a real web site.
It has a home page and every link on that page just reloads the home page?

Where can I see their offerings?

Using my IPad no matter which button I push the home page comes up.

With no grease grooves or under sized shoulders the cutter coild be a form drill and depth stop. Indicate bolcks center and clamp in place pilot drill then the form cutter with oil. May not be a Cherry as we think of it.

I have to say this doesn't surprise me. The website doesn't work and it looks like he's already out of business. I happened to witness the thread in the swaging section (before it got deleted) where he went off on the other members that were questioning his claims that powder coated cast boolits were as good as jacketed bullets. It was really quite a spectacle, and I saw that he was banned right after it. It looks like the ban may have been lifted, but things don't look quite right to me as far as trying to do business with this person if the website starts working again.
