More of a personal decision than anything. I keep my ingots as is and marked what they are. I add tin as I add ingots to the casting pots. If you blend all of your alloy into one thing that's what you have. If you blend the needed alloy as you need it you'll have the lead for future/different needs.

Rick has a valid point, but for a 55 pound batch, I'd put the tin in and be done with it. 55 pounds will be gone in the blink of an eye...

Concur with Rick. It really depends on how many you are planning to cast.

Yeah it will. Casting those 230gr 45's wil eat it up fast. the only thing i cast for is a 45 g21 and a 357 blackhawk. at some future point i may give a try at casting for my 30/30 marlin. gotta find a decent mold for it first though.

that mold would work, the marlins like them a bit big [311 or so]
55 pounds is just enough to put a dent in a large flat rate box with boolits..
really about 600 9m boolits [my casting pot takes almost 40 pounds to fill]

Lamar, how heavy are your 9mm's, should make more than 600!

by the time I fill the pot and cast the leftover alloy into boolits, it'll be about 600 of them.
I keep my pots full all the time.
