Pan Lubing Cutters - Kake Cutters

I'm tossing around the idea of making some kake cutters.

I'm going to cut a few this weekend with different materials to try out. I'm thinking delrin or similar and aluminum to test with first.

Would anyone be interested in some if I made a batch of them? I'm going to take a wild guess that they'll be in the $10 each range.

This is to gauge interest. If you would like a size not in the poll, post it and I'll keep a tally running.

I'm gauging these sizes as to what size boolit will slip through. The actual hole will be larger, but not so large as to "squirt" lube all over.

I voted for the .358 and .459. My .459 vote doesn't show on the poll but I'd buy these for sure.

I have never pan lubed, but want to start, how much "room" do you need? For example if I have a .358 Boolit is .359 enough? Or is that too tight and .360 is better? I want to do the following calibers: .223 and 9 mm and .308 and .38/.357. Thanks

I have a "30 caliber" that cuts .309 nicely, but .311 is might tight. If I recall a .312 minus pin gauge just barely fits in that. They need some room.

Depends on the design. Are we talking about a long tube you push several through and dump out, or a small cutter you cut a single boolit and then pop out? Handle/grip/ergonomics? Pics plz.

I think a tapered cutter would just cut the larger diameter and then tightly squeeze onto the boolit and squeeze the lube up.

I was thinking Lee style cutters. 4 or 5" long tube with a tapered end to cut and a wider section at the top to press on. Straight through design. Cut a few boolits and then dump from the other end. Depending on how much of a pain it would be I might back bore it so that only the first 1" or so it cutting and then the boolits are loose in the handle. Makes for easier "dumping".

There is a pic here. The items on the right.

or have the top of the kake cutter fit on the bottom of those LEE red containers that come with the push through sizer? jump on all of them as fast as you can and they'll be in the container in no time.

Not when it's faster & easier to just push on the bullet nose with your thumb and a piece of leather under it

that only works well with a rather stiff non stickly lube...

some good pan lubes would be very messy that way

    I'd take a .360, a .380, a.460, and a .510. I could use these yesterday!

nanuk - NASA Lube is the stickiest of any lubes that I know of and thumb pushing is a non issue that works with ease ...

How about 200 bullets thumb pushed with a no cracked or broken NASA Lube cake?

I pan lube over 23 different calibers with many different bullet diameters for the same caliber. For me, that would be an investment of over $230 for cake cutters when the thumb push method works every time. For those that shoot only one or two calibers - go for the cake cutters and recommend avoiding any cutter that is thick wall and is a high adhesion material
