    45 Colt Carbine

One of our members inquired about this some time ago. What do you think it will do since it has the capability to go about 1,400 fps or a little more.

I'd be interested as is, I have enough 250 + g .45 's. This could be hot-rodded in the Colt and Casull.

I also like it as is for my single-shot carbine.
Heavier versions are already available !

    Groo here
    NEGATIVE ON THE HEAVER!!!!!!!!!!
    We got plenty of heavies.....
Unless you are using a Blackhawk or 454 getting a heavy bullet up to speed to openup will be a problem.
Also you want a harder bullet for the speeds.
This design allows a shooter to set the boolet to the game and gun.
We all dont shoot long cylinder guns and a shell much longer than factory spec has trouble in a lever gun.
Anyone who's target is not impress by one of these at 250gr and 1400 fps needs a full solid [ of which we have many and mine goes 340gr]
    or a different gun.....
    I feel better now thanks.

    I'd be interested
Please keep the weight the same !

The reason I really like the weight, as is, is because my rifle has a 1 in 38" twist.

I have a 225 plain base super similar to this.
it is super versatile from the 45 acp/ 45 rimmed through the 450 mag.
this one would be about perfect to push along in the auto-rimmed case using either the cupped or small hollow point.

A carbine in 45Colt has lots of potential. Add a good revolver and tailored loads - a great combination. Sometimes a 250 gr at 1000 to 1400 fps is perfect.

Looks a lot like a 265 WFN I got from Ballisticast years ago. Great bullet.

I'd be interested if it were available as a solid.

That would be the cat's *** for those slow twists that seem so popular. Nice job on the nose profile. Why the gas check? More go-pedal with softer alloy?

Mihec always seems to offer his molds in both solid and HP form.

I'd be interested in this mold for an OM Vaquero and a Rossi rifle, but I'd like some suggestions regarding hollow point design. I like to keep my alloys simple: WW, range scrap and 50/50. Given velocities of 1400-1700 fps, which HP design would you guys recommend for white tail?

What counts is impact velocity. The gas check is there so one could push a soft alloy faster. At 1400 -1700 fps impact velocity, 50/50 WW/pure air cooled with the gas check version with either the cup or small HP. If it's the OM Vaquero, then the same with the large HP at somewhat reduced velocity of 1,000 to 1,100 fps.

This design will be ran, but I'm waiting for the list to go down somewhat before I put it up.

Looks like this ought to do fine in my Winchester 1894-1994 Wrangler . Depending on finances I think it would do alright unchecked as well , and a full complement of pins . Depending on size might be ok for my old 1909 Colt (.454) or the 1917s in AR . This could cost me big time .
