I've got this old(new) Lee pot that need to be cleaned before use?

I have this old but new Lee bottom pour pot, I believe it is a 10lb pot. It was lying around in a garage/shop for 5+ years and is coated with that many years of crud.

What is the best way to clean the pot to make sure there is no contamination when I start using it?

Wire brush cup on a drill or just a piece of sandpaper to remove rust be sure to keep it wet you don't need to breath that dust fill it with lead and get to work

When you are finished, if it doesn't work, give LEE a call. If you send them the old one, they will sell you a new one for half price. I traded in a $2 yard sale one to get a Pro 4 20 for $40.

You can use it like it is for any junk will come to the top so you can dip it off the top of your lead. When done casting leave your pot full. GOOD LUCK

I've got one like that too. Been considering using that citrus based liquid rust remover in it.

Remove the inner pot and bead blast it.

Thanks for the tip folks! Time to clean it up... although I may look into that Lee trade in. Sounds like a good deal.
