gear and myself are at times on polar ends of lube ingredients.
we quite often get the same results from the same cartridges approaching things from different directions.
maybe that's why we pm each other so much

anyway I do use moly in some of my lubes, the very best lube I have is called moly complex.
it's made with b-wax/soy wax and paraffin. [60/40/10]
has alox [15%], white lithium grease [30-35%], a poly-glycol based moly stick , and atf [3%]
it does take some heat to flow [but once warmed it holds the heat well]

I might could sub out the white lith grease with moly chassis grease, but i have about 25 sticks of this stuff.
I only use a golf ball sized piece to make 8 oz's of the lube.
anyway the white lith, alox, and moly are all something Gear don't like to use. [shrug]

You guys are on different ends of the lube spectrum? Say it ain't so!

Sometimes you just have to follow your gut and try something. I do that all the time. Over thinking things is sometimes the real enemy.
You will learn far more at the casting, loading, and shooting bench than you ever will at a computer bench.

I didnt have a chance to make it today I decided to make some Satan lube instead. I was hoping gear would weigh in before I make a batch and tell me what is wrong with using moly.

Well I made some moly today. I dont know much about bullet lubes but it seems a little on the soft side to me maybe it will stiffen up some after a day or two. I would still like to hear gears reason for not liking moly

Here is an Old recipe (modified) for your enjoyment if you want. Feel free to change it, twist it, call it folly, or just make it the way it is.
    MIRROR LUBE
6 ounces beeswax weight or volume
2 ounces high temp lithium moly grease
2 table spoons of Carnauba wax (have no Carnauba, you can add a bit more beeswax)
1/2 ounce of Lanolin (anhydrous) Yes you can warm hydrous Lanolin to remove some water, low heat.

    It's Sta-Lube Moly-Graph. Part# SL3141

    I've been using a version of glen's recipe for years in 44 Mag. 2/3 Randyrat's Beeswax to 1/3 Moly-Graph.

It's soft enough for lubsizers cold and won't melt in Phoenix. It's tacky, good lubestar at the muzzle, and not a trace of it on recovered boolits. I melt it and pour it into my 4500.

I haven't used solvent in the bore for years. A stiff bronze brush followed by a dry patch is enough. The rest of the gun is another story. Lube goes everywhere, under the crane and up inside the cylinder. I gave it the name El Mal Negro, The Bad Black.

The actual Moly content is quite small. It's just one of the additives to a Lithium Grease.

Mal Paso means Bad Pass, just so you know.

I use lymans moly lube, but I usually mix one stick with 2 BAC and 2 CR sticks and other stuff. I like a little moly, but not alot. Resulting lube is a deep blue, like a midnight blue (which is what I call it).
