50 BMG alloy in a single shot.

Question arose during a chat with a shooter of these beasts. I asked if he ever thought of shooting cast? Cue blank stare...It had never crossed his mind. The cost appealed to him immediately. Then I got to thinking about the alloy, lube and other incidentals involved in scheme. Any advice would be appreciated.

what are you aiming to do with them?
target shoot at 1800 fps at 100 yds?
1,000 yd shooting at 2800 fps?
every one of those things you mention could easily change depending on expectations.

I'm sure the gentleman is going long distance with his shoots.

    impact slug the throat area.
    measure.
order your mold based on those measurements.
    avoid spire type boolit noses.
get the boolit in the centerline of the barrel.
learn how to use a filler and buffer.
that should get you to 2400 fps or so.

    Paper patching may help.
