I second this, don't bake in any oven you ever plan to use for food. Heck I even wrote "NOT FOR FOOD" with a sharpie on the top of mine so no one ever gets any bright ideas. Id also agree with danr on the cheap walmart oven, mines a rival brand and was 19 bucks out the door. It's not a convection and does get some hot spots to it which will leave you with a disfigured boolit but for the most part its been good to me. Just keep an eye on it and you'll get the hang of it if you go this route!

Just out of curiosity, what fumes do these put off that are harmful? I thought one of the main benefits of powdercoating was that since it is not a wet application, it has very low Volatile Organic Compounds given off during curing.

Can we start a different thread to talk about the smells, fumes, presence of, or lack of? And perhaps persuade a mod to clean this back up to the last pics? This was supposed to be a clean photo album thread.
There are lots of opinions on fumes/smell and even arguments that it doesn't happen.
Let's move it to the front in a new thread?

ID:	103223Oky here are 3 boolits tumbled for 3 min. and baked for 10 min. the color was copper vein by powderbythepound. I was a little disappointed in the color, it is basically black with some copper streaking. I expecting more copper color.

Not too bad. Some people couldn't tell the difference.
Did we ever get an answer on what brand and color powder this is? Looked through the thread, I appologize if I missed it!

Dang, I was hoping I'd just missed it. He's right, it would be hard to tell the difference from jacket at just a glance, the color looks great if it performs well. I'll send a PM and see if we can't get an answer!

Looks good Ebner! Interesting process, what're the BB's for, do they help with coverage?

The BBs work as a vehicle pounding the powder coat into the surface during the shaking process, very much the same as when moly coating jacketed bullets. The coverage is 100% and the coating doesn't fall off due to the slightest of touch as when ESPC. Has anyone else tried this? The entire process hit me while waking up on my day off, I got dressed and went straight to walmart to get the things needed.......it worked very very well.

If you don't have an ES gun, it looks like it might be an improvement over dry tumble, for sure. It does give a nice covereage, even with that yellow that is hard to cover with. But it looks like the gun would be a whole lot faster. (if you have one)

Very interesting process you have going there. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical but it looks good. Have you fired them off yet to see if they lead or not? I might just try this myself with my more expensive powders, it looks like overall it's alot less powder handling and maybe even a bit more conservative with the powder (although you have to take into account the amount needed to coat the BBs that you will never get back).

Yes, I have an espc gun. Much less waste using this process, I don't have to coat the foil also. As in moly coating once the BBS are charged you have to add very little powder for future batches. It is much faster and easier than espc. Been there done that.
