    25-45 Sharps

Anyone shooting cast in this round?
If so what mold are you having success with?
And at what ranges are you getting to.
Obviously this would have to be gas checked if one was looking into getting the velocities up to around 2800fps.

    Thanks in advance.

It is and I would too. Pretty much vaporware though. Really long thread on arf.com. I think Blammer has one in 25-223.

Not so much vaporware but one mans dream come true to fatten his retirement account. Just look at RSilvers and the 300 BLK.

It woulr appear that the "Sharps" company developed (more like renamed) it.

Back in the 70's or early 80's a couple of guy's at Guns & Ammo magazine built a couple of AR's in 6mm and 6.5. It was a basic .223 casing necked up to those two bullets. Aside from the different calibers, I seem to remember that they both fired and fed well in the AR's , and both had better range and terminal ballistics than the .223. It didn't catch on back then, but people remember. mikey

I have a 25-223 built on a Savage action with a full bull Lilja barrel....haven't shot cast through it. The rifle is a 15 pound bench rifle that will bug hole 100gr Match Kings at 2750fps.

    Shoots a 110gr Accubond at 2700fps, 85gr over 3000fps, and 75gr at 3100+fps. I have p-dog kills over 700 yards with this rifle.

    25TCU is a bit more, closer to a 25-204....kind of a 25-223 AI.

I was referencing vaporware as it being non-existent for purchase since shot show 2011. Either way I'm kind of a sucker for easy wildcatting.

As stated, it's the 25-45 Sharps is a 25-5.56 wildcat designed for AR and bolt gun platforms. Their video claims the cartridge's heritage from the 257 Roberts. This wildcat's parent cartridge is the 222 Rem family and not the 257 Roberts, which I found misleading:

Here is the cartridge specs from their web page:

    I hope this helps,

I have always wanted a 25-223 or 25 copperhead (25-222) and when i read about this round recently it sounded about perfect, easy case forming and no trimming. Being a big fan of the 25-20 and having several 25 caliber molds and lots of the remington and speer jacketed 25-20 bullets i decided to have a barrel made. In the end i choose PacNor as they had the reamer and were very easy to deal with; going to be rebarreling a Ruger hawkeye ultralight that i had in .223 with the new 25-45 barrel. Can't wait to have it in hand, going to be a long ten weeks waiting. Looking forward to both maximum 70 grain jacketed loads as well as some hot hollow pointed 257420's, this little hollow pointed boolit is down right vicious out of the 25-20 and hopefully the new barrel will shoot them accurately at around 2200fps or so. Even loaded to only 1800fps they are pretty impressive. Should also be nice and quiet with really light loads and the old Lee 80gr group buy boolit, perfect for squirrel hunting. Like i said it will be a long ten weeks waiting but should be a lot of fun once i get it in hand.
