Boys tank rifle .55 bullet, any interest?

The idea would be to scale up the rockrat 50 bmg to .564 and use the flat base design to avoid the gas check issue. Target weight to be 950 grains. Loads would to be worked up accordingly.

With those specs/constraints, the intent is to recreate a training round the british used in the early 40's.

The Boyes Rifle in .55 cal. is a DD and needs paperwork as Nise said.

Mostly a PITA less you are really into the collecting scene. Had a good friend that fell into ownership of one......DD registered, plus well over a hundred rounds of original ammo. He never did shoot the first round of the original stuff and was debating converting the thing to a .50BMG which I thought was to route to go. Unfortunately he became ill and had to move back to his original home in Ill. so he disposed of that gun to a dealer in Wis.. Real shame as he let both that and a nice M/2 C. go for peanuts!

A pretty rare gun in 55 cal boys. The couple that i have seen were rebarrel to 50 BMG. Funny part the mags were sold as door stop, big paper weights. Early gun magazine ads they try selling them as big game rifles. Back some 20 plus years ago a single round of 55 cal was like 6.00 each.
