Search "casting equipment" for "tru-temp" (or "tru temp"?),
same one the reloading brands sell but less expensive.

    And welcome to THE forum!

    Hi!

New guy, lurked for about a week to get a feel for the place.
Seems like a great bunch here.
Hope yer all up for lots of questions

Started learning casting about 2 months ago from an old timer at our range.
Now almost set up, scrounged up about 450 pounds of wheel weights from the local wrecking yard.
Found screaming deal on some used molds and other stuff, made my own ingot molds, dipper and other small tools.
Smelted down the first half of the WW and cast my first batch of 44 slugs last week. Also used the recipe provided by Recluse to make up some lube,
and have the first batch lubed and ready to size.
Very excited to get them finished and loaded and see how they fly!
Melting on a Coleman stove w/ a Lee pot for now.
Humble beginnings, but at least it's a beginning! And a great way to pass the long Montana winters

Just signed up last week. I ordered a Magma casting pot and was looking for a Star lube sizer when I linked into this site. Sure didn't know what I was missing. I've picked up a ton of good information from guys who have done it and not just talked about doing it. This is great stuff. Thanks for all of the input , it sure makes it easier for us new guys.

Anxious to get started, really am a newbie, have a propane burner, small cast iron kettle, SS ladle, some lead on the way. Two black-powder guns that have a big appetite for soft lead, a .45ACP pistol, and a .44mag.revolver, all asking for more boolits to be fed to them. 'Been lurking enough to have an idea or two to get me started, but I'm wondering where to get the thermometer to use in my pot? Still shoppin' for a mold to make some lightweight conicals to try in my cap and ball 44 revolver.
    Welcome aboard first off.
I don't have one yet, but look in the vendor sponsor area for Swede Nelson, he sells the thermometers.

    Hello!

I've been googling the site for a while - some amazing info here - and starting to lurk more and more as I get underway with and try to wrap my head around this boolit thang.

My only mold so far is a Saeco 315, sizing via a green Saeco, and the intended CB recipients are of the K-31 and Finn M91 (slugs at .309) variety.

Using Lyman's just published new edition of Venturino's book, and this site, as my guides.

    Cordialement,
    Clouseau

Hello to all, My name is Ron.
I have been shooting off & on since my first .22 @ age 12.
    Started reloading in '96, for 9mm, .38/.357, .45 and 30-30, 6.5x55, 7.62x39 in Rifle. The Wife and I were shooting 500-800 rnds a week.
I became unable to be employed in 2009. 18 months no shooting or reloading.
So I now have only been shooting about 100-300 rnds a month. I am now feeling better and have more time then money.

A couple months ago, I became interested in Casting.
Found a few Forums and began reading, I have to say this has become my favorite. Been reading the great wealth of info and collecting an item here and there. Got about 50# of WW 3 weeks ago and did my first smelt last week.
    Got a couple used Lee Moulds, A 148gr WC in .358 and a 300gr RF in .454.
Cast my first Boolits over the weekend, after gathering the info from here, I had keepers in the first 20 min...

You all seem like a great bunch of Folks...

    Thank you for you knowledge...

    Hello all you casters,
I've finally decided to start casting my own. I have always reloaded my own hunting rounds. I've used Beartooth bullets and like their accuracy and effectiveness. I'll be casting for a Glock 29 10mm (with Wolf barrel) and a Marlin CB 45/70. I want to cast some bullets that will work as good as the Beartooth bullets. I have retired from guiding and have more time to shoot. Since I've retired I have less cash, so I'm trying to lower my reloading cost and at the same time shoot more. I think casting will help with this endevour.

I typed in Mike Venturino and found this site. I'll look it over for a few weeks and make some decisions on tools and supplies for casting. In the mean time, I'd like to do some reading and thought I'd start with a Mike V. book that you folks would suggest. Got any ideas?

    Thanks,

    William

Awesome site. I am Greener than a dam duck fan on game day with this casting stuff (bad since I'm a Beaver). So far I have 200# of lead from telephone wire, a cast iron pot and a lot of questions. The info on roto metals alloy was helpful. I'll be casting for a 45 P220. So, any thing i can learn will be greatly appreciated. The whole lubing thing looks confusing, but i'm a way off from that yet. Still not sure about molds or sizing either. I'll keep reading.
