I'm going to ask a dumb question about $0.20 worth of brass

I bought some once-fired brass for my 30-30 last week from a member here (and, unlike normal, it actually did look to be once-fired).

Anyway, while sorting through headstamps last night (I was bored) I noticed that one round was .32 Winchester Special headstamp.

I realize that there are some very slight differences between the .32 and the 30-30 nominal case specifications, but am I correct that once either is full-length resized, they can be used in the other chamber, with no ill effects?

Your overall length may be a few thousands off, but not enuf to matter. Neck thickness may be different, but that can be corrected by outside neck turning. Once you squeeze that .32 Special case into a .30-30 die, as you pull the expander thru the neck, if you notice a great increase in neck tension, your neck may need to be turned.
Bottom line is that I doubt you'll notice any appreciable difference.

There is no ill effect converting one from the other or vice versa. The case necks on the .30/30 and .32 Special are very thin and turning is never an issue. Years ago I purchased several hundred ".30/30" empties that I cleaned and sized before inspecting them. They turned out to be .32 Special. I loaded as .30/30 until they all hit the recycle bucket. Wish I'd kept them, 32 WS brass is tough to find these days so most of my 32 Specials started life as .30/30 cases. The circle of life.

Now my question is if that 32spl was to be sized for 30-30 then just happen to get shoved into a 32spl. what ill effects would it have if any?

    Thanks, folks.

The piece of brass in question has been sized, belled, primed, charged, seated, crimped, and stored in a box for the next day of shooting.

I use .30-30 for some plinking loads in my .32.
I use the wife's red nail polish on the head to remind me that they are actually .32, and not .30-30 like the headstamp.
