I am looking for a decent price point barrel for a relatives worn out (terrible throat erosion) milsurp.
They do not shoot enough or have the funds for a premium barrel and really need a new barrel.
Any suggestions?

Would help to know the model of rifle. For some there are new in the wrapper surplus barrels available for like $50.
Mauser 98
Edit prolly 30-06, maybe 308 (more easily available components than 8mm).

I may have one, I will have to check.
Do you know how to headspace a barrel?
Yes I do.
I own headspace gauges for the 308 family of cartridges and rent others.
Wilson makes a pretty good replacement barrel for mausers.
I have the following barrels for 98 mausers:
22-250
308 Bull [7/8 in.]
30-06 Military
280 Rem. new in the white short chambered
If interested send PM

Take off barrels can be had on eVil bAy and gumbroken.
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).
Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.
We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!
Midway makes Adams and Bennet pre fit sporter profile barrels in those calibers for 98 mausers, you will still need a action wrench, barrel vise, and pull through reamer or a standard reamer in a lathe to finish the chamber.
I think Wilson makes them in military profile in the same calibers, same tools needed.
Who carries the Wilson barrels now ? A fella in Roxbury New York used to but havent seen an ad from him in ages .
I've quit buying takeoff barrels online, except for .22 LR. Every third on I've bought turned out to have some significant fault. Which makes sense, I guess - a barrel that won't shoot is the first one to be taken off and sold.
P/M me - I might have a .308 that I'd let go, and I know I have a .243. That action is getting a .35 Whelen instead (Adams and Bennett - Midway was practically giving them away last summer).
