    Messy catch system

I'm still very new to the Star. I don't even think I broke the 2k mark(yet). My only gripe is that I can't find away to catch the bullets without lube, from the dropping bullet transferring everywhere. In some cases, the lube even gets knocked out of the groove. I currently use a bracket and Akrobin. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use the same system you are using.

The lube used makes a huge difference. Some lubes easily come out of the grooves, some leave a mess on other bullets, some don't do either.

Keep the heat, if used, low as possible.

My guess is your heat is up to high. When I have the heat down the lube won't get knocked out of the groves.

Do you guys think BAC or 50/50 would be a better lube for this sizer?

I switched to BAC, but what I found for myself was adding an air kit really made the whole process simpler.

I use the Magma lube, since everything else I tried had one problem or another. The Magma lube stays in the lube grooves, and does a good job on all my handgun bullets, which is mostly what I cast. It's also about as cheap a lube as you'll find.

    Hope this helps.

I do run Magma's air kit. I'll order some BAC on my next order. I just got a max size flat rate envelope of the red and will have to run through it first.

BAC is very sticky and should help with your problems.

I'm using Carnauba Red, and don't have trouble. Granted, it's been pretty cold in northern IN lately. I'd check the heat.

Carnauba red works great in my star. Keep the heat around 100 - 105F (Get a fish tank stick on thermometer).

Now that is a great idea. That is why I read this forum all the time, mining the gems.

If you use a PID on your pot, get another thermocouple (about 3 bucks) and JB-Weld it to the side of your Star, plug your heater in to the PID and let it keep your heat within 1 degree of perfect!
