Gas check bullet in a Tokarev

I am looking at various molds for my newly-acquired Polish Tokarev and wanted to know if any of you 7.65X25 shooters are using gas check bullets?

I found the Lee C309-113-RF to be the most accurate boolit ever to be fired from my Polish TT-33. Never put a gas check on the original batch, but I have some checked now for when I get back to loading 7.62 x 25. Got 500 pieces of brass from Starline a few months ago, so I am planning to load another run.

I also picked up 500 Starline brass the last time they made a run. I will look into this bullet, although I was sort of hoping for something a bit lighter.

I have not used GC bullets in my CZ52, and have had good rwsults with an 88-grain bullet of water dropped COWW with 6 grains of Bullseye.

There is an ongoing discussion in the group buy area started by JT regarding a light. 30 cal.plinker which will be useable in the 7.62x25.

I have a Lyman 76 grain .309 mold, and a Lyman 85 grain .32 cal mold also. These shoot with good accuracy from my CZ 52, but never did well from the Polish Tokarev. The Tokarev barrel slugged at .3125, but the largest diameter boolit that would chamber was .311. The longer, heavier Lee bullet appeared to stabilize well in the Tokarev.

If you get in a bind you can make the cases out of 223 family brass. - 30 Mauser too.

Where are you getting your load data for this bullet? I am interested in trying it since I had the mold already and just got a M57. I have some S&B ammo coming that will be the cases I start with and will be looking for some starline brass when it becomes available.

I have shot gas checked boolits from my CZ-52 but ultimatly found it unnecessary and found plenty of loads and boolits that shoot just fine plain base from that cartridge/gun with no leading and excellent accuracy.

On the other hand, 357-Sig. and 400-Corbon, now those are cartridges where a gas check at least a thin swagged on pop can aluminum plain base type check is almost completely necessary for me. I've even been able to master a 357-H&H rifle 75+% full power loading successfully with plain base but so far those two pistol cartridges in several of my guns are the ones where gas check is the name of the game.
