Ruger American Rifle - Ranch - 300 BlackOut

Just got an email from Ruger announcing the Ruger American Rifle "Ranch" version in 300 BLK and 5.56. Looks like FDE stock, 16.12" barrel length with normal and shorter LOP options. Given the American series price point I'll probably be getting the 300 BLK version to compliment my AR in 300BK. I've been waiting on a Mossberg MVP rifle in 300BLK for the AR magazine compatibility but it's been vapor for a number of years now. What do ya think?

I'd like to pick a left handed one up in 300Blk, but will probably wait a while for the price to come down.

I'm not a fan of the cartridges, but would like to see one in 7.62x39

Might not be able to resist the blackout offering. Only thing better would be if it took ar mags. This rifle will probably put the 300blk chambered Remington 700 out of business. Hard to beat $350 and they're supposed to be very fine performers.

I forgot to mention the threaded barrels and 1 in 7 twist on the 300 BLK. It's going to be setup pretty good for heavy sub-sonics through a can.

My only complaint about my 300BLK AR15 is having to manually cycle some subsonic rounds. Don't get me wrong, it functions perfectly with the right subsonic load, but it would be nice to be able to shoot mouse fart loads with light bullets. I can manually cycle these but it is louder than the suppressed shot. A bolt gun that takes AR mags would be awesome.

Might be handy if I already had an AR in 300BLK but since I dont I'll stick with my GSR. Ruger sure is putting out a lot of short handy rifles since the GSR took off.

I hope they make a lefty version. Still, I could probably run the short action bolt pretty well, and the girlfriend would probably try to claim it if I got a righty one.

You know...I've shot left handed my whole life, but have never had a left handed gun.

I only got a lefty gun about 2 years ago, a Ruger in .30-06. Then I got the Gunsite Scout lefty. It sure is nice having the bolt handle where I can just operate it with my left hand. On a .22lr I can cycle the billy with my right hand and keep my sight picture usually. I can't get away with that on longer action guns.

I got that same email, and am very tempted by the .300 BO version. I mean, I already have the molds and dies, and to me at least, this seems more practical in a manually operated action than a semi, so I will get one if the prices are what they're saying they should be.
I passed my last psych eval, how bout you?

great now the wife can have one too and leave mine alone.
I wonder if the chamber will be as tight as the 700 rebuild.

You'd think they would have figured it out by now, (a fairly inexpensive bolt action rifle in 7.62 x 39). Ruger made the Hawkeye compact for a short time in 7.62 and then stopped, but it was alot more expensive than the American. I really can't figure out what is wrong with their thinking on this one. The demand would be off the charts.

Never in history has there been a situation so bad that the government couldn't make it worse.

From Ruger ??? probably not .... why would they want to sell rifle to ten ( or more ) percent of the people that use rifles . Not when they can sell all they make of what they offer and have backorders , with that on their desk us left handers just don't count .

You could've said the same about my Gunsite Scout, but they made it in lefty, and enough of them that I wound up getting a decent buy on Gun Broker for one new in the box.

I sent them an email about a year ago asking for this very same rifle in this exact configuration but controlled round feed. After having so many ejection issues with my savage I'll hold off until some of the early adopters can report back on feeding and ejection. If it functions fine then I'm in.

ETA: What I would really like to see is a clone of the RGS with controlled round feed. I love the look of Rugers pepper laminate stocks and open sights would make perfect sense with the effective range of the 300blk.
