    Lyman missing in action?

I am persuing the Lyman Cast Boolit Handbook I was so graciously gifted with when I got here, and something caught my eye - the .223 Remington section, with a specific caveat for loading cast for the Mini-14. How interesting, just what I wanted to see! The most accurate boolit listed was the Lyman 225462, a 54gr gas check round nose. COOL! But, then I go to Midway or Grafs, and waitaminnit...not one of the molds listed in the book are on the website. Huh? I know I'll have to pray for Christmas gift from a relative to buy a Lyman mold, but I would do it, if I could find one. The 225462 ain't even listed on the Lyman website, discontinued already? Looked really good, too.

Some of the stuff in the Lyman Handbook is disappointingly old. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if all of those moulds were discontinued years ago. You might look at some of the auction sites and keep an eye out at gun shows.

Check the date on it. AIRC it was first printed well over 20 years ago. Gianni

Yep, copyright 1980. Don't want to rush into updating! (Though still a great get-started book.)

Another loss to the casting fraternity. I had to get a 225415 FN 50 gr. mould myself. Try that bullet from #2 alloy and 16.0 to 16.5 of SR 4759. CB.

Yup. Thats Lyman. They'll introduce a redesigned number for the 43 Egyptian or a 50 cal BP design but totaly ignore the huge market that begs for 311440, 358009, and all those others. Blind, deaf and DUMB!
