After the M1 carbine disaster the other day, I decided to use something that wouldn't go full auto if it malfunctioned so I grabbed an Ishapor built Mk.III Enfield and headed for the range. I brought along some untested loads...10.5 grains of Trail Boss and a 210 grain boolit. The gun was a Shotgun News purchase from many years ago, costing a whopping $39.95 and frankly I don't think I've fired it twice since then. Incredibly, the manufacture date is 1972!
I was in for a real surprise.
The bore is in excellent shape, almost new, and it proved it. To my astonishment I was ringing the 200 yard gong with ease all afternoon and couldn't get enough of it. This is one of those rare times when all the stars and planets align.......nothing's been tested, and yet it acts like I'd been developing loads for months. I think I have a new "favorite" gun.
