I can probably make it down to the Phoenix area on the Jan 25th. It's about a 2 hour drive as long as we don't get too much snow. I'm open to any eating joint decided on as long as they are gun friendly.

Is there still any thought being given to doing any shooting in conjunction with this meet? How far is Flannery's from the range at Usery Pass? I have not been there for over 15 years so I don't know how Usery would be for our purposes.

    Have Fun,

Are we shooting also? If so casual with what ever or something in particular? Have to know what to bring is all?

I figure for something like this we should shoot something.

Perhaps a simple 10 rounds, any handgun at 25 yards and 10 rounds, any open sighted rifle, offhand at a gong. The winner to have bragging rights. The rest could be just casual shooting etc. We need someone from (Tempe/Mesa/Apache Junction?) who shoots at Usery Pass to let us know if this is even feasible there. As I said I haven't been to Usery Pass for over 15 years. I've heard that weekends at Usery can be pretty full.

An alternative could be at Ben Avery Range on the north side of Phoenix. I've only shot at Ben Avery during Winter Range. I've also heard they can be very crowded on weekends.

No idea of range fees at either place.

Any input from guys near these ranges would be helpful.

    Have Fun,

    JCherry

The range at Usery Pass is Rio Salado Sportsmans Club. I am a member and can get anyone that come into the range for $5- as a guest. It does get crowded on the weekends but you can usually find a lane or two. Here is a link to their web site.

If you want to go to Rio Salado then Golden Corral is closer than Flanny's - the other concern is for a Mom & Pop like Flanny's, if this turns into a bull shooting session instead of Eat and adjourn to Gun shooting session, you can seriously be hurting their profits by taking up table space for long period of time as opposed to Larger Establishment like Golden Corral.

I believe they have already set aside an area for us, and I doubt that we will be crowding the other paying customers out. My thoughts are just to get together and shoot the bull, rather than the bullseyes. but I'll go along with the crowd.

If you have already reserved a gathering place, I'll go along with it.

So have we decided on a place, and is it final? I just want to put the location on my calendar.

    Thanks.

I was thinking 1 pm-ish for folks having to drive up from Tucson and
Lake Havasu City. After the noon rush but if Echo's has reservations set
I'm sure he will tell us the time.

Absolutely that's the place. I don't know if son Jim formalized it as a reservation - it's a pretty laid-back place, and I doubt if they actually take reservations. He probably told them there would be a dozen or so guys, and set aside an area for us. It will work fine...
    And 1PM works for me.

OK, NewbieDave007 - I guess we'll call this Final then - put it on your calendar.

I know this is a little late but how about a picnic lunch at Ben Avery range (every one bring thier own lunch) and have an informal shoot at the same time. I think the range has picnic tables, or a few of us can bring a few folding tables and bring your own folding chair. Has anyone set the "date" if so I missed it, 1:00 PM is fine.

Jan. 25th , 1 pm at Flanny's - I think for the first meet up we'll skip the shoot'in and just shoot the bull.

The next meet up we can get a better idea and maybe do it outside of Maricopa county, maybe a shoot'in match
with picnic then, in - Tucson - Wikieup - or ???
