Actually that's brilliant. Don't discontinue the powders rename them without the negative connotation of slow release (SR). How about Bird Buster Powder, Game Changer Powder, Progressive Ballistics Powder, Collector's Choice Powder, etc. Put them in eye catching square containers to take up less space. But seriously the main problem is the potential lack of choice if one company owns the marketplace.

SR doesn't stand for "slow release."

I know its sporting rifle SR. I wonder if 4227 is also going to go eventually.

Today I saw on Hodgdon's website that some IMR powders are going to keep their name and packaging design but be sold with the Hodgdon brand rather than IMR.
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

Actually IMR 4227 went away and H4227 stayed. If you don't understand, ask. Hodgdon deliberately mislead consumers with their bait and switch claim. This is well known here.
