Bruce, I went to college at Michigan Tech. One year we almost broke the all time snow record, I think it was around 320". Every night we would get another foot of snow, no big deal everyone had the equipment to deal with it. Four foot snow storms usually caused a school delay, but not much else. It was pretty dreary when you couldn't see out of the first floor windows anymore.

As far as the cap, I once worked with an ***** that wore one all the time, just can't seem to like the caps anymore.
I was a dog on a short chain.
    Now there's no chain.

BruceB; I was born in Saint Clair Shores in 1949. We moved to my fathers home town of Okemos just outside of East Lansing and lived there until 1956 when my parents got divorced and me and mom moved to Ventura CA, where I've lived in or near for all my life.

I went back to stay with dad and his new wife in 1958 and 59 and haven't been back since. He had a farm in Bath at that time but managed to lose it.

He always said that Michigan was a good place to go broke and proved three separate times. I always liked the place but after living in SoCal all my life I'm afraid that the snow would kill me.

As it sits I have to drive for at least 1 hour to experience "Snow!" It is supposed to be 80 F here for Xmas Wednesday. Might rain on Thurs /Friday. Probably get down into the 50's, which usually warrants long pants and a hoodie.

I actually wore my longeees last Saturday to our range in Rose Valley because it is at 3500 feet and was supposed to be cold up there. Got there it was 55 degrees and I was slightly overdressed. Thank God for layering.

Nope I watch the Alaska shows, and see how the weather is back east and even though we are a Liberal Utopia out here, I still love the climate. We were over in Las Vegas Dec 2-5 when the big cold snap hit. But I had 5 different coats to wear and we were never more than a few paces away from a nice warm Casino. We stayed at the "M" and it has a spectacular view of the strip and whole valley from the 11th floor.

Will also be going to the SHOT Show next month and it should be cold over there then as well.

But as for snow for 6 months out of the year. Naaaah! I prefer the hours drive and then retreat to the nice warm coast.

Still I'd love to visit Michigan in a motorhome or something like that. Maybe someday.

    Randy

Well, I went out to the jeep and dug mine out to get you some info. It says,"Lake of Isles, fine tailored headware, made in USA". We always called them "Railroad hats", don't know why. Heavy wool, this one is a red, green & yellow scotch plaid but many are just one color. Hope that helps,
