Start off with a .45cal MaxiBall and see what it does. Many FN boolits cast for .45ACP or .45Colt if cast of soft lead will work in a m/l with the proper lube, too. See if it will stabilize a prb. You never know what it prefers until you do some experimenting.
Think of a new m/l like a new .22. Try as many different kinds of the right size that you can find and see what your barrel tells you. Try some Pyrodex RS and try some good old fashioned bp, too. It's easy enough to figure out the twist if it isn't listed with a real tight patch on the jag and a yardstick: measure how long it takes for a full turn.
    Born OK the first time.
