And in other news: Magana559 was dismayed to learn that when the range owner said, "500lbs of range scrap", what he really meant was 500lbs of shot-up paper targets, cardboard backers, and 2x4 target frames.

Now that's just mean in too many ways.

    Good score.

when a local indoor range cleaned up their traps a couple of years ago, they contacted a local commercial reloader and he agreeded to buy their lead thinking it was alloyed lead bars, when they went to deliver the lead with all the trash and junk mixed in he backed out. now they had a huge load of stuff they couldn't get rid of, even the dump wouldn't take it. someone remembered that i cast and asked if i wanted it. realizing the labor involved i hesitated but being the greedy sort of fellow i am i did take it. yield was almost 3 tons after it was cleaned up. in hindsight it was a blessing seeing how the future prospects of scoring lead have become. my take on this is to get what you can and you will never have too much lead.

Tenx, awesome to hear how you got your lead. Did they dump it off with a dump truck?

I always get about (2) 5 gallon buckets of range lead when they do out cleanouts. It gives me plenty to shoot and always adds to my stockpile of available lead. They give it away to members at our place.

OP will make his money back in the first 5 gallon bucket of jackets he takes to the recycler/scrapyard. Good haul.

I saw this in a cartoon once. I'm pretty sure I can pull it off...
