    first pistol kill

Very sorry for not having pics but my camera was away on vacation with my wife
Opening day in Wisconsin was very, very windy saw no deer movement in the a.m so a little apprehensive about the rest of the day I went ahead to my stand location, after all its opening day
I arrived at approx. 1:50p.m and at around 4:00 I see slight movement.Turns out it is a small buck, well I wasn't going to kill him but the way the day had gone I changed my mind.I waited on him for 1/2 hour to get in a good shot position which he finally did at around 4:30 p.m. I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. with a Ultra Dot on it one shot and its a bang flop.Turns out that my shot was the correct height but the boolit caught him in the neck while he was bent down searching for acorns.I paced it off at 72 yds.I used a 265 gr.Mihec 265/640 h.p cast with 16/1 alloy sent on its way from a Winchester case filled with enough IMR 4227 to give me 1227 f.p.s
my first ever pistol kill this is the handgun however I did install th original grips and the ultra dot

Congratulations, for me a button buck taken with my pistol is a better trophy than an average 8 point taken with a rifle.
It's been a pretty poor year for me. Had to work all week so only got to hunt 3 days. Shot a big doe with my 45 colt opening morning but never saw anything else I wanted to shoot. I have a little six point buck here around the house. Had him at 15 yds one day but just didn't want to drop the hammer on him. Hoping he makes it to next year.
Here in MO. they've changed muzzleloading season to alternative method season. Center fire handguns are legal now. I'm excited. Woody

Taking a deer with my pistol is on my bucket list. Seems that when I take it out, the deer don't come in close enough, but do so when the pistol is at home. Do they know something I don't? Congrats on your pistol kill, that was an awesome shot!

Wolfer, that is the respectable thing to do. It really PO's me to see guys shooting an immature deer and wasting a future trophy animal. If a guy is not going to shoot a fully mature buck, then PLEASE shoot a doe and harvest the meat. Leave the buck for someone that appreciates a mature buck in it's mature splendor.

Congrats on the first pistol kill. Is that a Buntline Special SBH? Never seen a barrel like that on a SBH.

Cool looking revolver. Is that a brake at the muzzle?

Good shooting, and congrats. Horns don't eat very good, take a legal deer and be happy.

That is not a pistol it is a Rifle that the Butt Stock fell off of.

That looks like a D&T custom Ruger. I bet it does shoot good.
    Great shot on the deer.

Nice shooting and congratulations on the successful hunt. I'm still looking to get close enough to make venison this year.

Cool looking pistol and bet that bullet expanded well. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can not shoot, antler wise. The only thing I try not to do, is shoot button bucks or really small spikes. But that is me, and I don't force it on anyone. Congrats and welcome to handgun hunting! I've been handgun hunting for 3 years now and love it. I hardly ever pick up a rifle anymore. Was that your first cast kill?

Congratulations on your first pistol kill !!
I also got my first one with a pistol this year. It took me 4 years to have the rite conditions to use the pistol over a rifle. How long did it take you? Kevin

I hunt for meat. I don't much care what head gear they are wearing. Good job!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

once I got the pistol it took 1 year to develop a load for it
I wanted to use a heavier boolit however I accidentally found this boolit
worked just fine for the hunt I had on tap
I just got it last year a week or so before the season opened
